  1. I think this story has endured so long, because of the blend of humor and suspense conveyed in the story. The different personalities by each of the Bennett family shows a different side of each girl as some of them get married, all for different reasons.

  4. The article makes a good point in saying that the story has survived so long because Austen does not force her opinion on the readers, but rather presents the hypocrisy and flaws of the society and then allows the readers to decide for themselves what the story is saying. I believe this story has endured because it speaks to the power of self-reliance and the possibility of a happy ending despite imperfection, two ideas which still figure into life today.

  6. I think the article captures the point that the story has endured due to its iconic characters and their relatable personalities and struggles (that are Darcy and Lizzy) and their enticing romantic roller coaster that readers crave. I think it's a good story of the real life trails and tribulations that people face when reaching the age of having to figure out their financial and social situations, while also being constantly reminded of supporting their emotional feelings as well. Seeing how these characters handle these situations provides comfort and reliability to audiences everywhere.

  8. I feel that Pride and Prejudice has endured for so long because of the ability of people today to relate to the characters. No matter how old the film becomes people in society today will still be able to relate the characters to someone that they know in their life. This helps to add a element of comedy like non other and is the reason that the film has endured so long. It is a good story because it uses the perfect blend of drama and comedy. The drama keeps the audience hooked while the comedy makes them laugh along the way.

  9. I think this story has endured for so long because it is timeless. Ever since it was written, people have easily identified with and empathized with the characters, especially Lizzie. In my opinion, Pride and Prejudice is a good story because there are so many different elements to the plot that each of the different films that have been made can take a different angle on the story and still maintain the overall ideas and sentiments.

  10. The article makes a good point in explaining that Pride and Prejudice has endured for so long due to its ability to have a happy ending while still remaining intellectual and serious. By lacking the common literary tragic ending seen in many highly acclaimed novels, this story is perfect for film adaptation. In my opinion, I believe Pride and Prejudice is a good story because of the multifaceted nature of the plot and characters, managing to include a dramatic romance amongst some rather sarcastic and comedic individuals and instances.

  11. Pride and Prejudice is a very original, amusing and realistic story with characters that are relevant and mildly caricatur-esque. The audience is provided an insight into a previous culture but is also able to enjoy personalities that are recognizable and emotions that are relatable. This is how, in my opinion, Pride and Prejudice has lasted for so long as popular literature or media; it's realism and wit makes it very easily enjoyable for many people.

  12. The article makes a point in saying the plot of Pride and Prejudice is successful due to the variety of emotions it evokes. There is seriousness, romance, and comedy, all of which were not commonly seen together during the time in which it was written. I think it is so timeless because of the comedy aspect. The type of comedy used is a sarcasm that can be understood by those of any time period or generation.

  13. The article makes the point that Pride and Prejudice has endured so long because it has characters that still "feel real and recognizable two centuries after Austen wrote them". I agree with this statement, and add that Elizabeth in particular is a lasting character because she is strong, independent, and doesn't give into the social conventions of her time, while still being a romantic.

  15. Pride and Prejudice is such a popular book because it is very real and relatable. It is interesting but also funny. It balances the reality of marriage with the mockery of the institution of marriage during the time the book was written. This makes the book truly enjoyable for the reader to read.
